Thick and chunky knits are great to have in your wardrobe, especially when the colder months come around *currently giving Mother Nature side eye.* The problem with these types of sweaters and tops is that they can be tricky to style without looking too oversized and on some occasions just too causal IMO. With sweaters that are this unshapely, there are a few ways you can style them to help lessen the effect of that and also make them look polished.
With just this sweater over jeans, it looks a little too plain and kind of sloppy. To break up the all black outfit, I added a long crisp white button down which lightens up the look of just a plain heavy knit. Adding layers that lengthen the look (like this white shirt) is a great way to add interest and also adds a refreshing contrast to the whole outfit in general.
To offset the larger appearance of my top half created by this sweater, I slid into my trusted high waisted black skinnies to slim down the look. By also wearing a pointed ankle boot, height is added which helps elongate your legs – at 5’4″ I need all the help I can get. To finish everything off, I added one of my favourite silver chokers to add a contrast against the turtleneck collar and decided to pull my hair back into a loose pony tail to give the final look an effortless feel.
By keeping these tips in mind, you’ll be able to elevate the look of all your favourite knitted sweaters into your daily outfits seamlessly! x
