It’s no secret that I love rocking a bold lip – whether it be dark brown, a vampy red, or in this case a glossy blue. With most bold lips, I find a neutral eye look is key to making any lip colour “wearable” so I typically always keep my eye makeup simple. When Make Up For Ever released their new Artist Plexi-Glosses, I was so excited to try this blueish green colour called “Beetle”. Lip glosses are something I really don’t like though for their sometimes sticky textures and less than long lasting power so I made this purchase knowing it might be something I had to bring back.
After the first application, I could already tell how much better this product was than ones I’ve tried previous. Though it is extremely glossy, there is no “sticky” feeling. I applied it at work and spent a whole afternoon working (talking with clients on the phone and in store, while also drinking coffee and water) and couldn’t believe how well it stayed on my lips. Obviously the more you drink while wearing it, the more it will come off your lips but with water specifically, my trick is to just stick a straw in my water bottle to minimize gloss loss (haha).
I should also note that this colour, as great as it is on its own, does look a lot better with a colour underneath to create a base. Without anything underneath, it’s definitely more transparent and looks much more blackish blue. My favourite way to wear it, is to line and fill in my lips with MUFE Aqua Eyes in colour 3L and then apply the gloss over top. It might seem strange to some that I use an eyeliner on my lips but sometimes the colour range is so much better if you’re looking for brighter hues, like this blue.
