Must Have Monday: Neutral Eyeshadow Palettes

Starting today, I’ll be posting about a “Must Have” item every Monday that I always find myself reaching for, whether it be fashion, beauty or lifestyle related.  Today, I’m sharing my favourite neutral eye shadow palettes and why I love them.  The great thing about buying a palette is that they always come with a great range of shades, most come with various finishes (matte, shimmer, etc) and you can create so many different looks.

This was my first real eyeshadow purchase and first ever Sephora purchase.  The rose-hued shades make my hazel eyes pop so much and even as a beginner, the colours were a breeze to blend.  Depending on your preferences and eye colour, the Naked or Naked 2 palette might be better suited for you, but there are such great things said about all of these that I don’t think you can go wrong.  The only problem I had with this palette is that some of the eyeshadow pans became unglued from the case so I had to use super glue to re stick them.  Check out Naked 3 here

Looking for something even more neutral, Naked Basics caught my eye.  I love how this palette is completely matte (aside from the very subtle shimmer in the lightest colour “Venus”).  It doesn’t really matter what look I’m doing, I usually start with the colour “W.O.S” as a base and go from there.  I also use the colour “Faint” to define my eyebrows along the arch and tail after I’ve gone in with my usual brow powder.  It really helps give them some depth.  This would be a really great palette to pick up if you’re looking for something to use everyday and especially if you travel!  Check out Naked Basics here

Being a girl who has a serious soft spot for drugstore makeup, you can imagine my excitement when I heard that Maybelline would be coming out with a neutral based palette.  If you’re not wanting to spend the money on the two above, this is a great alternative.  I’d definitely recommend using an eyeshadow primer of your choice before applying these shadows though.  I’ve found the colours tend to fade a bit throughout the day and don’t have the same lasting power as Urban Decay’s, but you’re paying a fraction of the price!  Check out Maybelline The Nudes here

Hope this helps anyone who’s in the market for a neutral eyeshadow palette or just curious on what products I use!  Since I use all of these daily, I’m going to be putting together my favourite looks created by using them and sharing within the next couple of weeks.
